Dr May Ho graduated from optometry at the University of Melbourne, where she also gained her PhD. May is part of the Medical Team at the Fred Hollows Foundation as Optometry and Primary Care Adviser.

May is working on the expansion and implementation of the Foundation’s refractive error strategy and integration into program activities, including as part of cataract surgical outcomes. May has worked on the development of sustainable eye care programs in various countries in the Asia Pacific, European, African, and Caribbean regions. In her previous job, together with in-country partners, she developed the first optometry education program in Vietnam.

May currently serves on the World Council of Optometry Public Health Subcommittee, Optometry Victoria South Australia Education Advisory Committee, the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness School Eye Health Working Group and Vision Rehabilitation Working Group. May is also Fellow of the Australian College of Optometry.
